Bellingham escapes match ban for goal celebration

The 21-year-old has been fined £25,400 (30,000 euros) and his ban has been suspended for a year.

Uefa looked into the midfielder’s crotch-grabbing gesture toward the Slovakian bench following a late equalizer.

Bellingham refuted claims that the gesture was directed against England’s rivals while he was playing for Real Madrid.

Bellingham claimed he had “nothing but respect for how Slovakia played” in response to the incident on social media, calling it “an inside-joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game”.

Bellingham is eligible to play on Saturday, while Turkey’s Merih Demiral will miss two games due to a gesture he made during his team’s victory against Austria in the round of 16.
