Chelsea are weighing up their interest in the race to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire as West Ham, Newcastle, and Tottenham all have their eyes on the English international.

On Sunday, Harry Maguire tweeted from his social media handle to say that Erik ten Hag, the manager of the Red Devils, has informed him that he will no longer serve as the captain at Manchester United after he has fallen down the pecking order in terms of the number of defenders.

What Maguire said via Twitter: “After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.”

Maguire, 30, has no shortage of options, as the likes of West Ham, Newcastle United, and Chelsea have shown interest in capturing his signature.

Manager Eric Ten Hag has left the transfer decision up to the player, whether he wants to continue to play at United or needs more playing elsewhere.

Maguire has promised to continue to fight as long as he puts on the United shirt. The 30-year-old remains one of the world’s most expensive defenders after United signed him from Leicester City in a deal worth £85 million.
