Liverpool granted midfielder permission to join Saudi club Al-Ittihad, after accepting a bid of £40 million for the Brazilian, Fabinho did not travel to Germany with the team for their training camp there.

The 29-year-old Brazilian is scheduled to have a medical in Saudi Arabia after receiving approval from the Reds to complete the transfer.

Al-Ittihad won the Saudi Pro League ahead of Cristiano Rolando’s Al-Nassr last season. They have now added the former Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante from Chelsea early in the transfer market.

In addition to defeating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr and winning the Saudi Pro League last season, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante have joined Al Ittihad this transfer window.

Fabinho made 219 appearances for Liverpool, where he has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. He moved to Anfield from Monaco for £43.7 million in 2018.

Gerrard, who is the current coach of Al-Ettifaq was pushing hard for the signature of the midfielder, and there is confidence an agreement will be reached. Al Ettifaq were reluctant to meet Liverpool’s valuation of £20 million.

Despite rumours that he has reached an agreement on a £700,000-a-week contract with Al-Ettifaq, Henderson has not yet given his full approval to the arrangement and is still considering it.
