Madrid Captain, Nacho Fernandez, joins Al-Qadisah in Saudi Arabia

Nacho left Real Madrid to sign a two-year contract with Al Qadsiah, the Saudi Pro League team confirmed on Thursday.

After Euro 2024, the veteran Spanish defender, who led Madrid to the Champions League and La Liga double last season, will become a free agent and sign with the newly promoted SPL team.

In Germany, while serving abroad for Spain, Nacho had a medical examination prior to moving to Saudi Arabia.

In his 12 seasons with the first squad, the 34-year-old, who joined Madrid at the age of 10, has shared the club record with 26 championships won. Six Champions League championships are among his many trophies.

The seasoned center back chose to sign with Al Qadsiah despite being in advanced negotiations with Saudi powerhouse Al Ittihad.

Fellow Spaniard Michel, who led the Khobar-based team to the top of the first division league in his first season at the club, will be Nacho’s coach at Al Qadsiah.

“I could have stayed for another year, but this jersey has nothing more to win. It doesn’t imply that I’m not ambitious. It seemed like the appropriate moment to me. Nacho declared, “I am at ease and confident in my choice.
