Marseille close in on the signing of Hojberg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a midfielder for Tottenham and Denmark, is in advanced talks to join Marseille, a French club.

The 28-year-old is reportedly available for roughly £17 million and is thought to be prepared to leave north London.

Although the modalities of payment are still being discussed, both parties anticipate that the sale will close.

In 2020, during Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Southampton, Hojbjerg signed a £15 million contract to join Spurs.

Only ten of the midfielder’s 39 appearances for the team last season were starts, as Ange Postecoglou favored Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma in center midfield.

The Dane is in the final year of his Tottenham deal; if new terms are not worked out, he will be free to go elsewhere in 2025.

With the addition of Lucas Bergvall from Swedish club Djurgardens and Archie Gray from Leeds, Spurs have bolstered their midfield this summer.

Since Roberto de Zerbi, a former Brighton manager, was appointed, Marseille has been actively seeking new hires.
