According to the Telegraph, West Ham are interested in signing Manchester United captain Harry Maguire after the sale of midfielder Declan Rice to Arsenal.

The Manchester United captain has fallen behind the pecking order under Eric Ten Hag as he prefers the likes of Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof when it comes to the defensive position at the club.

David Moyes has prioritised the signing of a defender on his transfer wish list, and the England international emerges as a key target for the West Ham boss.

West Ham wants to sign Maguire on a loan rather than a permanent deal, but they might feel encouraged to make a higher offer because of the money made from Rice’s sale.

Also, the Telegraph reported that England boss Gareth Southgate has informed the united centre-back that he must play frequently if he is to make the squad for Euro 2024 next year; therefore, he must decide on his future.
